Since its incorporation in 1960, the unprecedented growth of San Dimas has transformed the City from an essentially rural area to a well-balanced community offering industrial, commercial, and residential living. In addition to the 1,700 acre Frank G. Bonelli Recreational Area which lies within the City boundaries, there are many parks such as San Dimas Canyon Park, a city-owned golf course (San Dimas Canyon Golf Club), and over 27 miles of equestrian trails for riding. The city services include an extensive recreational program for youth and for senior citizens, and the City boasts a new modern City Hall, with excellent provisions made for County Sheriff and Fire Departments, along with a fine Los Angeles County Library and Engineering Regional Office.
Emergency Notifications
CodeRed Emergency Notification System
The City of San Dimas has contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc. for its “CodeRED” high-speed telephone emergency notification service. The CodeRED system gives City Officials the ability to notify City residents by telephone about emergency situations or critical community alerts. The CodeRED system will only be used when situations arise that the community should be aware of (i.e. severe weather, wildfire, water main breaks, alerts concerning a missing child or adult, road closings, law enforcement emergencies and hazardous material spills).
CodeRED delivers the message through a high-speed telephone calling system to a phone number registered in the system. City staff will select a “call area” and the phone numbers will be matched up electronically to the addresses. A pre-recorded message will be sent out via the telephone with information about the situation and instructions. You will see the phone number 866-419-5000, 866-419-5000 for emergency calls or 855-969-4636 for general calls appearing on your caller ID. If you missed the call, you can call the number back to listen to the pre-recorded message.
Initially, the City will use telephone company records to create its notification list. However, residents should not assume they are in the system. You should register online, particularly if you have moved or changed your phone number in the last year or if you prefer to be contacted on your cell or business phone.
There is no cost to participate, you will need to have your first and last name, physical street address (no P.O. Boxes), city, state, zip code, primary phone number and alternate phone numbers.
