SB 1383 Mandatory Organics Recycling

Effective January 1, 2022 - All California trash generators will be required to recycle organic waste per Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383): Short-Lived Climate Pollutants. This Bill expands upon the goals of AB 341: Mandatory Commercial Recycling and AB 1826: Mandatory Commercial Organics, establishing statewide methane emissions goals. What is Organic Waste?
Organic waste can be generally described as any material that is biodegradable (can be broken down) and comes from either a plant or an animal. Examples of organic waste include food scraps, yard trimmings, and non-hazardous wood waste.
